Borderlands 1Gee golly, has it really been almost a year since I last updated this blog? Boy, how the time flies when we’re having fun! Yes, SO many months have passed since my last article in which we examined the 3 best TV shows to be adapted into slots, and yet Playtech still haven’t announced a slot based on “The Flash”, or any other show in the Arrowverse! They made, like, six different slots based on the “Batman” 1966 show, but still aren’t touching one of the most successful shared universes in TV history despite the fact that it’s RIGHT THERE, ripe for the taking! Ugh, okay… To alleviate my frustrations, how about we move away from slot machines that might happen, but probably won’t, and towards slot machines that definitely won’t? Here are the top 3 games that should be adapted into slots!

3. Mass Effect

The “Mass Effect” series has had its ups and downs, but that doesn’t stop it from being gaming’s very own “Star Wars”. Over the course of three games (yes, three – the new one, “Andromeda”, doesn’t count and never will count) we experienced the journey of Commander Shepard, captain of the spaceship Normandy who saw a foreboding vision about a devastating alien race known as the Reapers, fought tooth and nail to unite the galaxy to prepare for their arrival and then engaged in an all-out galactic war against them when they got here, with the humans fighting against the Reapers alongside every single alien race. “Mass Effect” gave us epic scenes contrasted with smaller, intimate moments courtesy of some of the most memorable characters in gaming. I don’t know about you, but I’d love to activate the Calibration Bonus by getting 5 Garrus symbols on a payline!

2. Overwatch

If you’re playing multiplayer games at all, chances are you’ve at least heard of “Overwatch”. When Blizzard (the studio behind small, insignificant projects such as “Diablo”, “Warcraft” and “Starcraft”) said “Hey, y’know what? Our next project should be a first person shooter”, you just knew that they weren’t going to create your average run of the mill military sim. While everyone else was busy placing you in the shoes of nameless, faceless soldiers in some kind of near-future war, “Overwatch” placed you in control of very specific, very recognizable characters with unique backstories and personalities who fought in an incredibly distinct setting that was in the middle of a cold war between machines and humans. And honestly, a game with so much personality is just begging to be given the slot treatment!

1. Borderlands

The “Borderlands” series practically SCREAMS “slot me”, to the point where I have no idea why it hasn’t been adapted yet! A unique and memorable artstyle? Check! Huge cast of characters? Check! Aimed at an adult audience? You bet your meat bicycle it’s check! “Borderlands”, despite its cartoony and fun-looking visuals, is set on Pandora – a kill-or-be-killed (mostly) desert planet where various mercenaries known as Vault Hunters shoot each other with futuristic weapons in order to snatch ancient artifacts… That they can sell to the highest bidder. The world is large, full of sources of inspiration, and could make a BRILLIANT slot adaptation! Someone get to it right now!
